Global scholars of Distinction
Each year, through a competitive application process, GTCC sends one faculty on a summer abroad experience provided through Worldview. Previous destinations have included visits to Germany, Ecuador/Galapagos Islands, Serbia, Japan, and Costa Rica. The 2017 Worldview destination is South Africa and will provide GTCC faculty member Tiffany Overby as our representative on this Worldview experience.
In addition, World View offers a number of resources for Community College faculty and staff on their extensive website. Links are available to the National Resource Centers for the world’s regions that are housed at UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University. These links offer an abundance of research and information about specific countries and cultures. Examples of globalized activities and complete modules are also available as faculty seeks to increase the international education component of their classes.
Fall Symposia and Spring workshops are offered for faculty by World View at UNC-Chapel Hill and feature speakers and breakout groups as they address current global topics in the context of the classroom. GTCC sends a team of four to each of these events.
